About Me

Who am I?

Hi, I’m Downey Huynh, the founder of Mr. Aitch Tutoring. I’m a certified math teacher and coach with a passion for helping students who feel stuck or left behind in math. I earned my B.A. in Mathematics Education and have spent the last few years teaching and coaching students from middle school through college.

As a former collegiate volleyball player and coach, I understand that progress takes patience, encouragement, and a solid plan. I bring that same mindset to my tutoring—whether it’s helping a student finally “get” fractions or guiding them through tricky Algebra problems. My goal is to help students build the skills and confidence they need to succeed, not just in class, but in life.

Why I Started This

Before I was a tutor, I was a coach. I spent years on the court, guiding athletes through moments of frustration, failure, and breakthrough. I realized many of the same lessons applied to the classroom—progress takes patience, encouragement, and someone who believes in you when you don’t believe in yourself yet.

That’s why I started Mr. Aitch Tutoring. I know what it feels like to struggle with math because I’ve been there. I want to be that coach in the classroom—helping students overcome doubt, build skills, and see that math isn’t just about numbers—it’s about confidence and growth.

What Makes This Different

At Mr. Aitch Tutoring, it’s not about cramming worksheets or rushing through lessons. I focus on creating a space where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and growing at their own pace.

What makes this different is the personal connection. I keep classes small so every student gets the attention they need. I bring in real-life examples, break things down in simple ways, and focus on helping students build both skills and confidence. My goal isn’t just to help them pass the next test—but to help them feel like math is something they can own.

My Mission

At Mr. Aitch Tutoring, my mission is simple: to help students feel confident in math. I want every student to walk into class knowing they can handle the challenge in front of them. Whether they’re catching up or getting ahead, I focus on building strong foundations, real-world connections, and a belief that they can succeed—not just in math, but in anything they take on.
